SEAFLEX® Mooring

The Seaflex®
Mooring System

The Seaflex
Mooring System

The Seaflex Mooring System is the elastic mooring solution for docks/pontoons, wave attenuators, buoys, and floating solar arrays (FPV) that is unrivaled in its ability to keep the floating application stable and secure even in locations exposed to extreme weather conditions.

The Sustainable Elastic Mooring Solution

The Seaflex Mooring System is made only with high-quality long-lasting materials such as rubber, high-grade stainless steel, and square-plait polyester rope.

The system can moor virtually any floating structure in any location – regardless of the water level variation. Some references are moored in locations with over 35 meter (~115 feet) variation, but the system is as beneficial in areas without any mentionable water fluctuation since it provides dampening and added stability.

The system absorbs forces from wind and waves reducing the stress on the docks/pontoons and boats during bad weather. The Seaflex Mooring System works as well in shallow water as it does in deep water, with references in water depths over 90 meters (~295 feet).

The system is suitable in both fresh and saltwater locations, as we offer a Titanium Hybrid upgrade for all models – providing maximum protection against corrosion.

Seaflex Characteristics

The main part of a Seaflex Mooring System is the unrivalled reinforced homogeneous rubber hawser(s); attached together with a high-quality stainless-steel plate.

Depending on each locations specific forces the product will be equipped with 1 to 24 individual hawsers per Seaflex unit.

According to tests monitored by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), one single Seaflex rubber hawser can withstand a force of drag greater than 10 kN, elongate over 100 % of its length and retract back to original length. While doing this, the system is putting constant tension and providing stability to the moored application.

Unrivalled Features

The Seaflex Mooring System is constantly being improved, even though we have references still in working order from the 1980s.

The Seaflex Mooring System is regarded to be more efficient and have a longer lifespan than most traditional mooring methods.

The unique patented ByPass Safety System was added to the Seaflex Mooring System product line as a standard component in 2008, and acts as a safeguard if the system should be exposed to conditions beyond the intended design. If the Seaflex Mooring System is being used in highly corrosive areas, we also offer a Titanium Hybrid upgrade which ensures longevity even in the roughest environments.

Applications

The Seaflex Mooring System can be dimensioned to handle everything from small residential docks/pontoons and commercial marinas to large wave attenuators at hurricane prone locations of the world.

After 50 years of mooring docks/pontoons we are experts in knowing what is needed to securely attach virtually any floating application.

The Seaflex Mooring System is also frequently used for mooring navigational buoys and swing moorings. Other applications moored with include floating houses, floating solar arrays, and floating fountains. We are also involved in wave energy projects and other ground breaking aspects of ocean construction.

Mooring systems

Mooring systems are essential for securing floating structures such as docks, pontoons, wave attenuators, and buoys. A well-designed mooring system ensures stability and safety, even in extreme weather conditions. Seaflex excels in providing elastic mooring solutions that offer superior performance while prioritizing environmental sustainability. Unlike traditional mooring methods, which often use rigid chains that can damage marine ecosystems, Seaflex’s systems utilize cutting-edge technology and materials to minimize environmental impact while maximizing durability and efficiency.

The Seaflex Mooring System is notable for its elastic properties, allowing it to absorb and dampen the forces exerted by wind and waves. This elasticity reduces stress on the moored structures, preventing damage and extending their lifespan. Furthermore, Seaflex systems are adaptable to various water depths and conditions, making them suitable for both shallow and deep waters.

A key feature of Seaflex’s mooring systems is their ability to accommodate significant water level variations, ensuring reliable performance even in areas with fluctuating tides. The use of high-quality materials such as reinforced rubber, stainless steel, and polyester ropes ensures long-lasting resilience against corrosion and wear, particularly in challenging marine environments.

Seaflex’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its design approach, which emphasizes minimal environmental disruption. The systems are engineered to float above the seabed, preventing damage to sensitive marine habitats like eelgrass and coral reefs. This eco-friendly design aligns with global efforts to protect marine biodiversity and promote sustainable development in coastal areas.

In summary, Seaflex offers a modern, efficient, and eco-conscious solution for mooring floating structures. By integrating advanced technology with sustainable practices, Seaflex sets a benchmark for the mooring industry, ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental stewardship in every project.
